The 25th AGM of the Southern Peninsula Food for All program was held today with President Ken and Committee presenting their annual report to all those in attendance.
The Southern Peninsula Food For All program has formed great partnerships with our local businesses, schools, churches and receives donations from many service providers and benefactors to so they can provide emergency food relief for residents on the southern peninsula.
To date, the program has delivered over 48.052 packed food parcels and has distributed over 7.383 Christmas food hampers with toys to those in need.
I was pleased to be called upon to declare the nominations for the election of the Board and Committee and to congratulate and thank the Food For All Committee, volunteers and benefactors for contributing to the success of this program for our community. Well done.
The packing of this year's Christmas Hampers will be at the Rosebud Sea Scouts' Hall on Monday, 12th December between 7pm and 9pm for those who want to go along and help with the packing.

Residents of the Mornington Peninsula Shire are interested in reducing food waste going to landfill. So I asked the question to the Officers via a candidate information request form on the 6th October, 2016.
"How far away are we as a Shire in starting to include organic food waste in our rubbish collection? If I recall we looking at the green waste bin as an option?"
The comprehensive answer provided by the Shire touches on Councils current position on seeking opportunities for organics processing facility for the SE region (Dandenong area); a group tender for provision of an AWT in the SE Melbourne region and possibly trialling the collection of organic waste.
The candidate information request froms are listed publicly on the Mornington Peninsula Website.

The Southern Peninsula Community Support and Information Centre held it's AGM this week.
The centre is managed by a volunteer Committee of Management and staffed by 7 paid staff and over six (60) dedicated volunteers and provides invaluable frontline support services for people in crisis who need emergency assistance.
Over the 2015/16 period the SPCSIC were there to assist over 6147 general contacts; 3579 crisis and support service visits and 5403 Fresh Food program visits totalling 15,139 contacts who were assisted across a wide range of services.
This assistance offered to the marginalised and most vulnerable in our community would not be possible without the commitment and financial support by many benefactors and also the sponsorship and donations from our local businesses and various other community groups across the Southern Peninsula and grant funding from the Mornington Peninsula Shire - this year the acknowledgement and thank you for all who donated grew to a two page spread in the Annual Report!
Well done to everyone who has offered their support to SPCSIC and I encourage the community to support these wonderful businesses who support others in our community.
Congratulations to Jackie Curry - Manager,, Robyn - Program Co-Ordinator, the Board, Committee and Volunteers for an outstanding contribution towards taking care of our local community on the southern peninsula - it was great to catch up with you all at the AGM

The Mornington Community Information and Support Centre recently held it's AGM.
The centre is managed by a volunteer Committee of Management and staffed by 7 paid staff and over 72 dedicated volunteers and provides invaluable frontline support services for people in crisis who need emergency assistance along with general and tourist information to residents and visitors to the Mornington Peninsula as well as running the Beach End Op Shop in Mornington.
Over the 2015/16 period the SPCSIC were there to assist over 19,110 contacts who were assisted across a wide range of services. including emergency relief and fresh food program.
Faced with severe Federal funding cuts over the 2015/16 period the community centre showed resilience with quick, innovative thinking and opened up an op- shop and relied on donations from very generous benefactors including grant funding from the Mornington Peninsula Shire so they could continue to offer assistance to the marginalised and most vulnerable in our community without compromise.
Well done to everyone who has offered their support to Mornington Community Support and Information Centre to help it through the last year in particular.
Congratulations to Lisa Elliot - Manager and her dedicated team, the Board, Committee and Volunteers for an outstanding contribution towards taking care of our local community in Mornington- it was great to catch up with you all at the AGM
