A Performing Arts & Culture Precinct for the Peninsula
|
A key action in the Mornington Peninsula Shire Arts & Culture Plan 20-24 under Goal 2: Uniquely the Peninsula is to "Develop a feasibility study for a performing arts centre and cultural precinct" for the Peninsula . With $75K in the budget for Arts & Culture, the feasibility study will be underway soon.
Covid-19 has struck at the heart and soul of the Arts & Culture industry on the Peninsula with untold and devasting impacts on our community and now there is a lot to be done to aid the hardship and recovery with advocacy, support and investment by the Shire going in to the future.
As former Chair and recent delegate of the Mornington Peninsula's Arts & Culture Advisory Committee I have had a longstanding passion over the last 6 years to see music, dance, arts and culture flourish on the Mornington Peninsula and will continue to do so.delivering on fantastic key actions in the Arts & Culture Plan.
Starting with the 1920/21 Budget I was very proud to get behind and support the passage through Council of these amazing projects that will continue to reach out to add the "arts & culture" touch to our community:
- Arts & Culture Budget of $1.6M
- Mornington Peninsula Music Network: $28K
- Peninsula Chamber Musicians: $20K
- Peninsula Film Festival: $40K
- Peninsula Music Society Bursary Awards: $10K
- SPARK Performing Arts: $20K
- Dreamhouse Theatre Performing Arts: $20K
- Pimp My Scoot Positive Ageing Short Film: $10K
- Summer Music Festival: $28K
There is still a lot to be done for our vibrant Arts & Culture Industry on the Mornington Peninsula.
So, as they say "the show must go on"
Let's get on with it!

"As a creative industry professional, I have seen the local landscape grow immensely in the past couple of years. Antonella is the number one person who has stood out as a major supporter of the arts community. She has been physically present at many creative events, in amongst the people, listening and encouraging artists and lovers of art. Antonella Celi is a superhuman with a big heart. She has always been there to listen to the Peninsula’s creatives and shown massive support within the arts community. Supporting music events and advocating for a thriving music scene. - Heidi Louise Luckhurst - President, Peninsula Music Network - Singer-Songwriter at Heidi Louise
"Antonella is a wonderful long standing supporter and advocate for Arts and Culture across the entire Mornington Peninsula" - Anthony Pope - President, Peninsula Chamber Musicians
