Cr Antonella Celi Delegate Report - Council Meeting - 20 April, 2021

Congratulations Leisel Male – Queen’s Guide Award

On Saturday,  17th April Cr Debra Mar and I were invited to attend a special ceremony at Rosebud Girl Guides where Liesel Male – an inspiring local young woman achieved and was awarded her Queen’s Girl Guide Award presented by the Assistant State Commissioner for Girls Guides – Deb Abbs.

Liesel is a member of the Rosebud Senior Guides and the Bentleigh Ranger Guides Unit and is truly an inspirational young lady who has shown such dedication and commitment to complete her Queen’s Guide Award. An Award which takes many years to accomplish, let alone persevering to achieve her goals during the covid lockdown challenges of 2020.

The last time the Rosebud Girl Guides brought home a Queen’s Guide Award was back in 1993, so there are celebrations all round for Liesel, her peers, family, friends and leaders who helped achieve her Award, in particular Samantha Bourke – Guide Leader of Rosebud and Cat Anderson, Ranger Guide Leader of Bentleigh.

Girl Guides Victoria is an amazing organisation for girls and women that enables them to grow in to confident, active and responsible community leaders and I commend their work.

On behalf of the Mornington Peninsula Shire I extend a heartfelt congratulations to Liesel for her hard-earned accomplishment and wish her and Rosebud Girl Guides every success for the future.

I table for the minutes the Girl Guides Australia/Victoria Media Release.( Attachments at Report 4.1 - Ordinary Coucil Meeting, 20th April, 2021.
