Have Your Say on the Mornington Peninsula Shire Asset Management Policy and Asset Management Strategy currently on public exhibition.
What Assets are we talking about?
The Council is responsible for public owned Infrastructure assets such as roads, bridges, pathways, as well as Cultural assets like public libraries and recreational facilities that enhance the quality of life in the local community and provide much needed program and services to those living in our region.
Currently the Shire's infrastructure assets have a current replacement cost of more than $1.6 billion dollars. .
Why do we need a Policy?
The Shire is responsible for and must plan for the acquisition, operation, maintenance, monitoring, renewal, upgrade, expansion and in some cases, disposal.of publicly owned assets because of this an Asset Management Policy and Strategyis needed to outline best practice in management of these assets to provide the best outcomes for the community and the region.

Support your Local Government to deliver benefits and services to the community better by voting YES in the Referendum at the next Federal Election in September.
Financial Recognition of Local Government in the Constitution will go to the people's vote in a referendum to be held on the same day at the Federal Election - September 14th, 2013.
This is a significant even tor the LG Industry and it's success at the Referendum will secure certainty for the local community that their Local Government can be financially funded to provide and deliver local services to the community. "on 9 May 2013, the Prime Minister announced the Australian Government's intention to proceed with a referendum to recognise local government in the Constitution. The referendum will be held on the same day as the Federal Election, on September 14 this year, and will ask voters to cast a vote on "financial recognition - to enable the Commonwealth to continue to provide direct funding to local services and local communities."
