"Caring for Our Environment"

The community has lobbied Council for a long while to do something about managing the cost of waste tipping fees at the gate, in particular for hard waste. A petition of over 1700 signatures was tabled at Council for action.

Cr Celi advocated on behalf of the community to Councillors and Shire Officers to review the costing of the Waste Management Fees and come up with a solution to reward the community for their great efforts in helping to reduce, reuse and recycle at our landfill sites.

With the support of a majority of Councillors a $3 reduction off the gate at the tip for hard waste came into effect from 1st October for residents of the Mornington Peninsula.

A small step in the right direction to managing waste tipping fees.
